winter remembered...

Whew! It has been so hot and humid these past few days! As much as I love Michigan in the summertime I am already missing the quietness and coolness of winter. I thought I would share some photos I took in Grand Haven last winter.

wind dancer

I caught this gorgeous sunset in July of 2011. I had been attending school in Washington State and was home for a short summer vacation. My best friend and I decided to hit our favorite spot, the Grand Haven boardwalk and pier. We were treated with this magnificant sunset that seemed to change color before our eyes. We even caught some amazing shots of Wind Dancer, a Charter boat that takes you sailing on Lake Michigan.

The Rosy Mound Natural Area is one of my favorite trails to hike. It has a beautiful trail with
enough steps that make even the fittest among us sweat! The beach is calm and peaceful and you
are often able to catch a gorgeous sunset.

Little Sable Lighthouse

Little Sable has been beautifully restored. Tours are offered during the summer season and one day I hope to climb to the top of this tall structure. The brick is breathtaking and looks striking at sunset.

pure michigan...

Pure Michigan
Because of our love for Michigan, my cousin and I decided to purchase these "Pure Michigan" jars from www.puremichiganstore.org. Inside we hope to assemble a small collection of Michgian's natural beauty. Perhaps we will place a small sampling of sand from our favorite beach, a neat piece of drift wood, or even uncover a small Petoskey stone.

my favorite place

Grand Haven South Pier
One of my favorite places to visit in Michigan is the Grand Haven South Pier. Maybe it's because Grand Haven is my home town. I love the sights and sounds of the Grand Haven Pier. It is almost always packed with people, fishermen, and photographers. Here is a creative shot I took of the lighthouse tower.

A Glimpse of Heaven
There is nothing quite like a Michigan sunset. This photo was taken the evening of September 16, 2011. This particular sunset will always be special to me because I photographed it the evening before my Grandfather passed away. I feel like I almost captured a glimpse of heaven.
